About Advise NC
Advise NC at NC State places full-time Next Step Advisers in high schools throughout the state. Advisers provide individualized support to high school students as they explore and pursue the postsecondary plan of their choosing. Advisers work full-time in one of our partner schools where they use a whole-school approach to support students. Advisers educate students and their families on all of the postsecondary opportunities available and help them pursue the one that is the best fit.
What We Do
- One-on-one advising sessions with students and families
- Comprehensive postsecondary planning support, including assistance with RDS (Residency Determination Service)
- Assistance with FAFSA, CSS Profile, and scholarship completion
- Admissions and financial aid award comparison and best-fit decision making
- Host college-themed workshops to educate students and families on the college application process
- Classroom presentations on various postsecondary topics
- Assist students with obtaining fee waiver for college applications and standardized tests
- Connect students and families with community resources
- Assist with postsecondary enrollment steps
