AmeriCorps Next Step Adviser Role

What We Do:

  • Provide one-on-one college application and financial aid assistance to students and families
  • Organize group events that encourage students and their families to consider, plan for, and apply to colleges and universities
  • Collaborate with school and community partners to build a college-going culture
  • Collect and manage school-level data on students’ progress toward post-secondary planning
  • Develop expertise in admissions and financial-aid advising

Requirements:

  • Earned a bachelor’s degree within the last four (4) years
  • Be able to relocate to or near the service area 
  • Possess a strong commitment to service

AmeriCorps Members must be:

  • 18 years of age
  • US citizens or lawful permanent resident
  • Submit to criminal background checks
  • Have a social security card

Advise NC at NC State accepts applicants who graduated from institutions other than NC State University, provided the applicant’s home institution does not have an Advise NC program in operation.

Annual Compensation*

  • $35,000-41,000 – Annual Living Allowance for full-time Members
  • $7,395 – Segal Education Award (AmeriCorps benefit)
  • $5,820 – Health insurance, including vision and dental, at no cost to Members

*Final compensation based on grantors and start date
